OPTION-Ontology

OPTION (OPTImization algorithm benchmarking ONtology) is an ontology developed with the primary goal of formalizing knowledge about benchmarking of optimization algorithms, emphasizing formal representation of data from the performance and problem landscape space. Thus, OPTION offers a comprehensive description of the domain covering the benchmarking process and the core entities involved in the process, such as optimization algorithms, benchmark problems, and evaluation measures.

OPTION is also available on BioPortal via the link.

OntoOpt.owl is the main file containing the OPTION ontology.

iao.owl is an upper-level ontology used in the process of the ontology design.

For detailed exploration of the ontology, we recommend the use of Protégé. After opening the OntoOpt.owl file in Protégé, make sure you import the iao.owl ontology via the direct imports view found in Protégé.

OntoOpt-inferred.owl stores the inferred version of the ontology. The inference is made using the OWL Micro reasoner. For more information, please refer to this link.

To upload your performance data obtained via COCO and Nevergrad benchmark platforms or make requests for extending the OPTION ontology and the list of supported data formats, please use our OPTION web interface.

Requests for extending OPTION and the list of supported data can also be made here by creating an issue.
