Generates a sequence of unique alhpabetic characters, lower/upper case characters, punctuations and digits.
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
gem 'password_generator'
And then execute:
$ bundle
Or install it yourself as:
$ gem install password_generator
By default, the gem creates a mixture of lower and upper case alphabetic characters, 20 by default.
The gem offers several other options to generate a password.
You can specify that the characters are unique:
PasswordGenerator.generate(unique: true)
Punctuations:
PasswordGenerator.generate(unique: true, punct: 3)
Digits:
PasswordGenerator.generate(unique: true, punct: 3, digit: 4)
Upper case characters (if not specified, a mix of lower and upper by default)
PasswordGenerator.generate(unique: true, punct: 3, digit: 4, upper: 2)
Length (default 20):
PasswordGenerator.generate(unique: true, punct: 3, digit: 4, upper: 2, length: 50)
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup
to install dependencies. Then, run rake spec
to run the tests. You can also run bin/console
for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install
. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb
, and then run bundle exec rake release
, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem
file to rubygems.org.
