Connection fails when behind corporate firewall
Opened this issue · 3 comments
When I configure the plugin to connect from behind our corporate firewall, I get the stack trace below. The same configuration outside of our firewall succeeds. I see issues like this when I try to make a connection without going through our proxy which is why I suspect the plugin is not using our proxy. Is there some way to allow the plugin to use a proxy when connecting to SQS?

hi, @TreverW
AWS SQS and other services are using standard AWS certificates, signed by real CA.
This means if you are using up-to-date system, you should not have any trouble validating it.
If you absolutely must use proxy, you must define all relevant proxy related env variables at service level, that is your jenkins service should be aware of http_proxy
, https_proxy
, HTTP_PROXY
, HTTPS_PROXY
, and probably as well no_proxy
, and/or NO_PROXY
.
If after you've set up those variables the plugin is misbehaving, please let us know.
@TreverW, for transparency's sake, we did not test with the plugin relying on proxy to communicate with sqs. We bet it would respond to proxy env.
If it doesn't - we should take a look.
Hello, @TreverW,
I have antivirus software on my windows machine with firewall included.
This firewall working between applications and os kernel.
For https it works like man-in-the-middle, it forces application
to connect to firewall, then firewall connects to target.
In this case firewall changes original sertificate with self one.
As a result connections using sertificates break with error
"unable to find valid certification path to requested target" same as issue opened
at aws-sqs-plugin [Connection fails when behind corporate firewall #13].
When I include the application (in your case it should be java.exe from jenkins)
to the list of firewall exceptions everything work ok.
Same may be with https proxy.
If You use something You can configure locally please include SQS endpoint
to whitelist.
