iogNewsletter plugin ====================== This is an application plugin for manage newsletter: create newsletter from a template and send it to a list of emails. In this alpha version there're a lot of things to do, but it's funcional in it basic operations. It requires ckEditor to edit newsletter and some kind of image browser will be a good idea (like sfAssetsLibraryPlugin). Prerequisites ------------- This plugin for symfony 1.3 and above depends on ckEditor plugin to edit newsletter contents and jQuery javascript library. Installation ------------ 1 - Install the plugin. The easiest way to install `iogNewsletterLibraryPlugin` is to use the symfony command line: > php symfony plugin:install iogNewsletterLibraryPlugin Alternatively, if you don't have PEAR installed, you can download the latest package from my [git hub profile](https://github.com/joanteixido/iogNewsletterPlugin). If you use git remember to publish the plugin assets by calling the `plugin:publish-assets` symfony task. 2 - Build the data structures Rebuild the model and generate the SQL code for the new tables: > php symfony propel:build-model > php symfony propel:build-sql Create the new tables in your database. Use the generated `data/sql/plugins.sfAssetsLibraryPlugin.lib.model.schema.sql` file for that purpose. For instance, with MySQL: > mysql -uroot -p mydb < data/sql/plugins.iogNewsletterLibraryPlugin.lib.model.schema.sql 3 - Configure your project to use the plugin features Enable the `iogNewsletterPlugin`: [php] // in myproject/config/ProjectConfiguration.class.php class ProjectConfiguration extends sfProjectConfiguration { public function setup() { $this->enablePlugin('iogNewsletterPlugin'); } } Enable the modules of the newsletter application via the `settings.yml` file. // in myproject/apps/my_app/config/settings.yml all: .settings: enabled_modules: - default - iogNewsletter # the primary module to manage newsletters - iogNewsletterEmail # it's a basic admin generator module to manage emails list - iogNewsletterLlista # it's a basic admin generator module to manage list of emails - iogNewsletterTemplate # manage your templates. 4 - Clear the cache to enable the autoloading to find the new classes: > php symfony cc 5 - You can now start using the plugin by browsing to the backend module's default page: http://myproject/backend_dev.php/iogNewsletter Configuration ------------- TODO ---- * A lot of things!!!! * Create base plugin in english * Manage returned emails * Make more unit and functional test * Do best the template manage model * Make a list of TODO things :( Changelog --------- ### 2011-01-03 | 0.1 Beta * initial version
