The Simple Way to Edit a Website!
SiteEng creates a semi-static website that is super simple to use. Every had that moment when you want to scream "I just want to edit the text on the website!", well then SiteEng is for you.
- Design for website that are mostly informative or semi-static. This mean that if you are have a website that you are only going to change the text every so often, SiteEng is for you!
- Design with small businesses in mind. The site uses Local Business Schema to help search engines know who you are!
- The person editing the website don't know much about computers. The edit experiance simply amazing
- You want your website to be responsive (aka have a mobile view)
- You need a very dynamic website that handles also sorts of content and documents
- You need user accounts on your website
- You need a blog or any other advanced stuff
Site Eng is built on other popluar libraries to make it great! Here are some mahor libraries that we use.
- CakePHP
- Twitter Bootstrap 3
- Raptor Editor
- jQuery
- Install cakePHP and configure it according to the beginner blog tutorial
- Follow the User Authentication tutorial on the cakePHP tutorial
- Copy all the files from the download into the cakePHP app directory
- Install the given SQL file for the tables
- Go to www.yoursite.com/sections/index
- Log in with the user from the CakePHP tutorial, click on the gear icon in the navbar
- Fill out the information about the site and your business, and save
- On the main page, edit your content!
In the v2.0 Release there is no way to add or remove sections, this is a major issues that will be fix in the next release
SiteEng 2.0 is a major rewrite from the SiteEng 1.x series. So there may be some bugs or incomplete features. You can see what is planned on the GitHub issues list.
