The Inventory Management System is an Android application designed to streamline the process of tracking and managing inventory. The primary goal is to provide users with a simple yet powerful way to add, update, and delete inventory items while also enabling SMS notifications for low inventory alerts. Recent updates include enhanced functionality to prevent duplicate item names and provide users with clear error messages when an item name already exists in the inventory.

User Needs and UI Design

The app’s design is focused on user-centered experience, prioritizing ease of use and accessibility. The main screens include a login screen, an inventory management screen, and an SMS permissions screen. Key features were carefully selected to address user needs:

  • Login Screen: Secure user authentication, with easy account creation for new users.
  • Inventory Management Screen: A clean and intuitive interface to add, update, or delete inventory items, adjust quantities, and manage SMS notifications. A new feature prevents the addition of items with duplicate names, ensuring data integrity and providing users with immediate feedback if an item already exists.
  • SMS Permissions Screen: A straightforward option to enable or disable SMS notifications based on user preferences, now with a toggle option that allows users to easily manage this feature from within the app.

The UI designs were successful because they kept the user at the forefront. The app’s layout adheres to Android Material Design guidelines, ensuring familiarity and ease of navigation. Elements like buttons and text fields are appropriately sized and clearly labeled, reducing the learning curve and making the app accessible to users of all experience levels.

Approach to Coding and Development
