Library Setup

Install FFMPEG NOTE: For macOS: brew install ffmpeg
Install Bento4
Install Shaka Packager

Initial MP4

For this workshop we will be using Big Buck Bunny

Download the file

curl --url http://mirror.cessen.com/blender.org/peach/trailer/trailer_1080p.mov --output ./files/bbb_trailer_1080p.mov

Convert .mov to .mp4

ffmpeg -i ./files/bbb_trailer_1080p.mov -vcodec h264 -acodec aac ./files/bbb_trailer_1080p.mp4

Convert to CMAF w/ 2 second durations

Video

ffmpeg -i ./files/bbb_trailer_1080p.mp4 \
    -movflags frag_keyframe+empty_moov+default_base_moof+faststart  -bf 2 -g 50 -sc_threshold 0 -an -strict experimental -profile:v baseline -b:v 2048k -f mp4 ./files/bbb_trailer_1080p_video.fmp4

Audio

Prep

Create necessary directories

mkdir output

Bento4

Package HLS and DASH manifests.

./tools/Bento4/bin/mp4dash -o ./output/bento --hls --use-segment-timeline ./files/bbb_trailer_1080p_*.fmp4

Shaka

Verify

Create SSL certs

openssl req -newkey rsa:2048 -new -nodes -x509 -days 3650 -keyout key.pem -out cert.pem

NOTE: use 127.0.0.1 as Common Name

Start Server

http-server -p 4200 -c-1 --cors -S -C cert.pem

Verify Bento4
