The docker exec command allows you to run commands inside a Docker container.
The following command line will give you a bash shell inside your mariadb container:
$ docker exec -it lh_mariadb bash
The MariaDB Server log is also available through Docker's container log:
$ docker logs lh_mariadb
$ mysql> CREATE DATABASE `wordpress` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
Use docker exec and run the tool from the same container, similar to the following:
$ docker exec some-mariadb sh -c 'exec mysqldump --all-databases -uroot -p"$MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD
