/ColorizeSSH

Set Gnome Terminal colors based on hostname

Primary LanguageShell

Provides a quick way (swapping terminal profiles) of recognizing which computer you're currently ssh'd into when using gnome-terminal.

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to do this, since you can't change gnome-terminal colors from within gnome-terminal itself. Instead, we need to simulate keypresses to change the terminal profile. Consequently, this depends on xdotool.

To use, set up a default profile use, then a profile for production servers and a profile for testing servers. Adjust the key strokes as necessary. Make this program executable, and put the following in your .bash_rc:

alias ssh='/path/to/this/file/colorizessh'
