About

This is an Omni Automation solitary plug-in for OmniFocus that allows the user to number a series of existing tasks in OmniFocus.

It was made to assist KontiKonsumi on the Omni Group forums: https://discourse.omnigroup.com/t/automatic-numbering-from-1-in-omnifocus/56207.

Please note that all scripts on my GitHub account (or shared elsewhere) are works in progress. If you encounter any issues or have any suggestions please let me know--and do please make sure you backup your database before running scripts from an amateur on the internet!

Known issues

  • This script won't work well if tasks already start with numbers followed by a period.

Installation & Set-Up

  1. Click on the green Clone or download button above to download a .zip file of the file in this GitHub repository.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file.
  3. Move the .omnijs file to your OmniFocus plug-in library folder.

Actions

Number Tasks

This action can be run on one or more selected tasks.

It numbers the selected tasks from 1 onwards. If the tasks already begin with a number and a period, this will be replaced to allow for numbers to be re-generated e.g. if tasks are moved around.
