Channel order
Closed this issue · 9 comments
In the TraceView, channels appear in decreasing order (i.e. 0 is the bottom trace).
However, this is not "anatomically" correct. In contrast, the waveform view shows the proper order (increasing).
Usually channels are ordered from superficial to deep, so I think it would make sense if the order in the TraceView is reversed.
Is this occurring in the development version of phy and phycontrib too?
I can't reproduce this bug, could you send me a dataset with this problem? Thanks
Hi Cyrille,
below a picture to exemplify what I mean.
However, I was wrong above in the sense that also the waveform view is consistent (shows the same channel order).
So is this order a matter of convention or a bug?
If it is a convention, I can change my channel map definitions to go around this issue.
In the latest version, the trace view and waveform view should show the traces in the same physical order (using the y coordinate of the channel in the channel positions array). So if channel 0 is at the bottom of the probe, it should appear at the bottom of the trace view. Is this not happening in your dataset? If not could you send it to me? Thanks.
Are the ycoords supposed to be negative for depth or positive?
I guess this is the issue, in my case I set the ycoords in increasing order (so higher number = deeper in the brain), but I guess one needs to have them negative for phy.
Just tried it now and this takes care of it (so depth is always negative number).
exactly!
Great! Thanks for the help and sorry for the confusion!
