Loading an Unpacked Extension from a Zip File

This guide will walk you through the process of loading an unpacked extension from a zip file in various web browsers. This is specifically for the IP Manager and WiFi Analyzer extensions.

Step 1: Unzipping the Extension

  1. Download the zip file containing the extension for IP Manager or WiFi Analyzer.
  2. Locate the downloaded zip file on your computer.
  3. Right-click on the zip file and select "Extract All" (or similar option based on your operating system).
  4. Choose a destination folder for the extracted files and click "Extract".

Step 2: Loading the Unpacked Extension

Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. In the address bar, type chrome://extensions/ and press Enter.
  3. Ensure that the "Developer mode" toggle, usually located in the top right corner, is turned on.
  4. Click on the "Load unpacked" button, located at the top left corner of the page.
  5. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the extension files in Step 1, and select the folder.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox.
  2. In the address bar, type about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox and press Enter.
  3. Click on the "Load Temporary Add-on" button.
  4. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the extension files in Step 1, and select the manifest.json file inside the extension folder.
  5. Click "Open".

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. In the address bar, type edge://extensions/ and press Enter.
  3. Ensure that the "Developer mode" toggle, usually located in the bottom left corner, is turned on.
  4. Click on the "Load unpacked" button.
  5. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the extension files in Step 1, and select the folder.
  6. Click "Select Folder".

Step 3: Verifying the Extension

  1. Once the extension is loaded, you should see it listed among your installed extensions.
  2. Ensure that the extension is enabled by toggling the switch next to its name if necessary.
