In this session will focus on building a personal academic/professional website using Github pages and strategies for how to present your best professional self online. By the end of the session, you’ll have the start of a site that you can easily maintain with having to purchase a domain or server space. The workshop is hands-on and open to everyone, so bring your laptop and join us!

What You Need to Start

You may want to spend a little time learning how to use markdown, as it'll make putting your content together faster. There is a tutorial here The Magic of Markdown and cheat sheets in the issue log above.

Attribution

This tutorial uses Mark Otto's Hyde Template for Jekyll with some simple modifications to make it Jeykll 3.0 Compatible. You may also choose to use biomadeira's Sustain Template for Jekyll for a different look. Many different Jekyll themes can be found here.
