Shader errors

Opened this issue · 3 comments

Yesterday I updated OR 8.3 to OR 10 and i must say, the improvements over the are technically and visually astounding! Wow! Numerous bugs afflicting OR are gone and I need less obse plugins than before.

The game runs pretty smooth, most of the time
But...I get a lot of shader errors, which could cause frame drops and some occasional crash. The Water shader for example, simply doesn't looks right on the surface because very bland, but it is transparent - OR 8.3 in comparison, rendered water beautifully.
I didn't modify or add new shaders, all I did was to unzip and install your release.

Hi,
OR 9 and 10 broke Water Caustics, and it's a know issue

Regarding the other issue: Are you using Wine or Proton?
If you do remember that you need the Microsoft d3dcompiler (not sure if your pc use _43 or _47 dll)

I am using a wine 64bit wrapper, Ws11, latest 64 bit engine.
After many fixes my game runs now stable at 7fps most of the time and that's ok, ( using the console cmd tdt / debugtext 2)
Of course this fps value is barely acceptable, having stable 20fps everywhere would be a dream.

I found out, my tweaks worked better in some wrappers, worst in others. Downloadable wrappers around are nicely resource optimized but my fps is always at the bottom, as if my machine would be some old console.

I know just basic confgs in winetricks for audio, dotnet, DirectX, visualc . Building my own wrapper with Vulcan helped a bit, but gave me not more than 3 or 5 fps. I don't have any heavy texture mods or INI configs interfering with the game engine. Mods are minimal.
Usually, walking around gives me 16 - 20 % CPU load , video RAM catches nicely around 30 to 50% not more. I hope I could be somehow informative.

Ps. I added Microsoft d3dcompiler 43 as an override, if I understood you correcty

Mac os 10.14.6
Ati radeon hd 7970 3gb
20 gb RAM
fps = 1 - 18 (worst-best) average 7 fps

I'm afraid that osx is outside my expertise, and it's not exactly an issue on TESR. I'm using Wine myself, on archlinux, and it goes not perfectly smooth (is oblivion, slowdowns are expected expcecially with many mods) but certainly not at 7fps average (unless I install a ton of mods adding LOD).
