Ansible configuration to install HXTool on Debian 22.04 and RHEL9 based distributions. This has been tested with generic/ubuntu2204
and generic/centos9s
Vagrant boxes using virtualbox and the Vagrantfile is included within for testing purposes. This is not a complete solution as some distributions may vary and require different dependencies, this is a base to start from.
I have no affiliation with HXTool and this is a personal project to deploy HXTool with Ansible and the name HXTool is only used "in connection with or referring to the original Software that is not modified"
.

- OS is updated
- Dependencies are installed if required
- User account and group are made for HXTool
- HXTool is cloned from github master
- Python Virtualenv is created for HXTool
- Firewall is opened on RedHat based systems
- Service is installed
Running vagrant up
from the project directory brings up both Debian and RedHat boxes. The Debian box mounts host port 8081 to 8080 on the guest, the RedHat box mounts 8082 to 8080. Running vagrant up debian
will bring only the debian box up; the same goes for vagrant up redhat
, and ssh with vagrant ssh
.
- Implement Windows roles and Vagrantfile
- Implement other providers (VMWare, Hyper-V)
- Implement Packer to build virtual machines from scratch
The following warning provided by HXTool is provided when running hxtool.py
and this still remains true:
