About using Celestia to explore the sky position of Earth rings. Specifically, to show how to set up a view of the sky for the times and places of George Jones's zodiacal light observations of 1853 and ff. George Jones said that his observations of the ZL suggested Earth had a ring near the ecliptic plane. Here I show how to present the sky position of an Earth ring in the plane of the lunar orbit (five degrees from the ecliptic). You can compare his description of what he saw, to such an object, and in my opinion see for yourself that this Earth ring works exactly right to account for what he describes. Cassini and Laplace's idea doesn't work to explain what Jones describes.
