How to detect and track features in the dark

Hi Luo,
I asked you for your IJRR paper two or three weeks ago, and thanks very much for your kindness in providing me the PDF version of the paper. I also found one version of your paper at https://pure.hw.ac.uk/ws/portalfiles/portal/55129576/HSO_2022.pdf
After reading your paper, I have some questions:
- How did you detect features in the dark? Is the gradient feature most important when it's dark?
- How did you track those features in the dark? Aren't lucas kanade only robust for corner points?
It would be very nice of you if you could answer the two questions. Thanks very much in advance.

Also, in the low texture environment, why this method is so robust? Which part of tracking and detection makes it accurate at dark and textureless environments?
