3324 Scouting App

This is the github page for 3324’s scouting app, we use an acommpanying google sheet.

Running the site

To run the site (on port 8080) you need a couple dependencies. Firstly you need python2 and pip2. Next you’ll need to pip install flask and pip install unicodecsv (for unicode support).

Then you can run python server.py to run the server on port 8080. To go to the site go on a browser on the host machine and enter 0.0.0.0:8080 in the address bar. If you want to run the server on port 80 (the normal http port, so you don’t have to include the 8080 in the url) you’ll have to change line 70 in server.py to port='80'.

Tip	You’ll have to run the app as sudo on a Unix device. I don’t know how it would interact on Windows.

Using the site

We have seperate pit scouting forms for Mechanical/Electrical/Programming determined by their respective leads. We also have a Business/Administration/Management section with our fundraising and media forms, as well as a portal to view the data which is still experimental.
