What are the essential skills to get into tech?

  • Inquisitive Nature: you need to always be looking forwards
  • Insatiable Appetite: to learn, without learning you will stay still
  • Ability To Simplify: Tech can be complex so you need to add simplicity (Colin Chapman once said of Motoracing cars to "Simplify and add lightness", the tech equivalent is "simplify and use less buzzwords")

What are the most important character traits for the tech industry?

  • Resilience: because failure is the path to success
  • Tenacity: you wont get there in one step
  • Cooperation: It's not possible on your own
  • Growth Mindset: Doing more than you did yesterday

Why should you get into the tech industry?

  • Tech is the ever growing epitome of innovation
  • Almost everything as of today has some kind of tech inside
  • Solutions to real world problems are found while working on one technology or another
  • It's fun to say "Tech Tech Techy Tech" [I hope it at least makes someone smile :D]
