Covers the primary problem solving strategies, methods, and tools needed for data-intensive programs using large collections of computers typically called "warehouse scale" or "data-center scale" computers. The course examines methods and algorithms for processing data-intensive applications, methods for deploying and managing large collections of computers in an on-demand infrastructure and issues of large-scale computer system design.
Description: Covers the primary problem solving strategies, methods and tools needed for data-intensive programs using large collections of computers typically called "warehouse scale" or "data-center scale" computers. Examines methods and algorithms for processing data-intensive applications, methods for deploying and managing large collections of computers in an on-demand infrastructure and issues of large-scale computer system design. Recommended prerequisite: CSCI 4273. Same as CSCI 5253. Class Notes: This class will be taught in person with all students attending each scheduled class. -Registration restricted to Computer Science majors only until April 26, 2021 then open to all majors.- Students may be administratively dropped for non-attendance or lack of prerequisites. -The waitlist for this class is automatically re-sequenced to allow priority to Computer Science majors by academic level.
