Recycle That: Recycle for Change

A web application that connects people having recyclables to others who want to redeem them at recycling centers for extra cash.

How it works

A donator uses our web app to notify us of the current location of their CRV qualified recyclables. Then users registered as recyclers will be notified of the recyclables to be picked up. These notifications only happen if the user is within a convenient walking distance. Once the recyclables are collected, they are encouraged to redeem them at the nearest recycling center.

History

This project initally started at the Boston AngelHack 2016 held at Kayak HQ.

Glossary

Definitions and terms we use.

  • Donator - A person that has recyclables to dispose of.
  • Recycler - A person that collects recyclables to deliver to a recycling center.
  • Recyclables - Any product that qualifies as part of the CRV System. These items can be such as: glass bottles, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans.
  • Recycling Center - A location that will despose of and pay for recyclables.
  • CRV - Cash Redemption Value. The value of the recyclable within the CRV system.
