- Anscombe's Quartet from Chapter 1 in Data Vizualization: a practical introduction
- Florence Nightengale's Polar-Area Diagram
- Figures on misleading axes
- Palmer Penguins by Allison Horst for a joyous alternative to Fisher's iris dataset*.
*I originally used the iris
dataset, published by Ronald Fisher in the Annals of Eugenics in 1936. While the data themselves pertain to flowers and were collected by botanist Edgar Anderson, we should not strip this data of the context in which it was used. And given the joyous alternative of penguins and many others, this is an easy thing to do. To de-iris your repos, check this out.
