The rocker-with-V8 Dockerfiles from the Rocker Project provides basic building Debian ( r-base) upon which other containers can be built. They include the libv8-dev & libcurl4-openssl-dev packages permitting R to install critical dependencies (V8 & curl) for modern package (such as Rstan, brms, echarts4r) .
