ChatGPT-Mobile is a project that enables users to utilize their phone's built-in MMS messaging application as a client to interact with ChatGPT, an AI language model developed by OpenAI. With this project, users can have conversations with ChatGPT by sending MMS messages from their mobile devices.
This README will guide you through the setup and usage of the ChatGPT-Mobile project, allowing you to quickly get started with using ChatGPT through MMS.
- MMS-based Interaction: Engage in natural language conversations with ChatGPT using MMS messages sent from your phone's built-in messaging app.
- Text-to-Text Conversations: Send text messages to ChatGPT and receive responses as MMS messages on your phone.
- Conversational AI: Utilize the power of ChatGPT, a state-of-the-art language model, to have meaningful and context-aware conversations.
- Clone the repository:

- Install the required Python dependencies. Open a terminal or command prompt, navigate to the project directory, and run the following command:
pip install -r requirements.txt

Acquire Gmail OAuth
credentials.json
file from the Google Cloud Console and place the file in the root folder of the repository. Please follow the steps below to obtain the credentials.- Go to the Google Cloud Console.
- Create a new project or select an existing project.
- Enable the Gmail API for your project.
- Go to the Credentials page and click on Create Credentials.
- Select OAuth client ID as the credential type.
- Configure the OAuth consent screen.
- Select Other as the application type.
- Download the credentials.json file.
- Place the credentials.json file in the root folder of the cloned repository.

Create an application specific password for Gmail. Please follow the steps below to create an application-specific password: It is recommended that you create a seperate Google account for this as it can cause clutter in a primary Gmail account
- Go to your Gmail account settings.
- Navigate to the Security tab.
- Enable 2-Step Verification if not already enabled.
- Go to the App Passwords section.
- Select Mail and Other (Custom Name).
- Click on Generate.
- Copy the generated application-specific password.

Run
setup.py
to create the.env
file containing config data:- Set up an OpenAI account
- Acquire a secret from your OpenAI account
- Set an email
- Set Gmail app specific password (acquired in last step)
- Set a phone number
- Set a carrier

Run:
python src/gmail_server.py
- Send an MMS message to the email being used for this application. Functionality is currently very slow so it may take a while to recieve a response.
