Data analysis on IPL-T20 MATCHES (2008-2017)

Indian Premier League is one of the most popular cricket leagues. We find commentators often explaining player’s performance, strike rate against a particular bowler and even match winning percentages based on tons and tons of match data collected.The purpose of this project is to analyze the IPL T-20 matches data so far and extract some productive information with regards to players and each team. This project involves the analysis of the following with the IPL-T20 matches from the year 2008 till 2017.

  1. Tosses and Matches won by each team
  2. Stadiums with maximum match occurance
  3. Count of bat/bowl decision by each team on winning the toss
  4. Top run scorers
  5. Number of matches played by each team
  6. Probablity of winning the match by winning the toss
  7. Percentage of teams electing to bat in every season
  8. Number of man of the match awards received by each player
  9. Strike Rate of batsmen
  10. Average score of batsmen
  11. Season wise wins of all teams

Datasets

The datasets used in this project are matches.csv and deliveries.csv. These files consist of data of all IPL matches till 2017. The dataset used in this project can be obtained from Indian Premier League till 2017.
