PolarFire SoC Documentation

The boards folder contains instructions and links related to the programming of different PolarFire SoC targets to boot Linux.

Please refer to the Microsemi website for information on PolarFire SoC and device families.

Icicle Kit

The repository contains supporting documentation for the Icicle Kit.

The Updating PolarFire SoC Icicle-Kit FPGA Design and Linux Image document provides:

  • FlashPro Express programming files for the FPGA fabric and eNVM
  • Linux images for SD card and eMMC targets
  • The required jumper configuration for the board
  • Programming instructions for the eMMC and SD card

The Icicle Kit Software Developer Guide document provides:

  • A board diagram highlighting features
  • Out of the box boot instructions for booting Linux

Libero tool licenses

The following steps can be followed to generate or renew your silver libero license at no additional cost.

  1. A free silver license, which supports the PolarFire SoC FPGA on an Icicle Kit, can be generated here.
  2. Choose a “Libero Silver 1 Year Node-lock License for Windows” or a “Libero Silver 1 Year Node-lock License for Linux" depending on your OS.
