Add a spotifyControls block to your i3blocks config file:
[SpotifyControls]
command={scriptlocation}/spotifyControls
interval=once
Add a spotify block to your i3blocks config file :
[Spotify]
command={scriptlocation}/spotify
interval=repeat
Change the maxlen and/or interval variable in the spotify file to specify how large the block should be and how fast the text should scroll.
