What it does:

This Python script automates the process of discovering potentially available five-letter domain names. It leverages two primary techniques:

  1. DNS Check: It retrieves a list of five-letter words (configurable) and performs a quick DNS check using the dnsx tool (or a suitable alternative) to identify domains that resolve to IP addresses. These are likely already registered.
  2. Availability Verification: It then validates the remaining domains using an API call to a domain availability checker (currently https://partners.vpsvc.com/api/anonymous/v1/domain/search).

Features:

  • Discovers potentially available five-letter domains.
  • DNS check for initial filtering.
  • API-based availability verification.
  • Progress bar for tracking progress during validation.
  • Configurable word list location (/usr/share/dict/words by default).
  • Customizable delay between domain availability checks to avoid overwhelming the server (currently 1 second).

Requirements:

  • Python 3 (tested with Python 3.x)
  • dnsx command-line tool (or an equivalent DNS resolution tool)
  • requests library (pip install requests)
  • Optional: tqdm library for a progress bar (pip install tqdm)
  • sudo apt-get install wamerican
  • pip3 install aiohttp

Installation:

  1. Clone this repository: git clone https://github.com/your-username/domainhunter.py.git
  2. Install required libraries: pip install requests tqdm (if desired)

Usage:

  1. (Optional) Modify the get_five_letter_words function if you want to use a different word list location or filter criteria.
  2. Run the script: python domainhunter.py

Output:

  • If available domains are found, the script will display the number of potentially available domains and subsequently list each one.
  • If no available domains are found, the script will inform you.
  • If any errors occur during execution, informative messages will be displayed.

Important Notes:

  • Accuracy: The domain availability API results may not be entirely accurate, and further manual verification might be necessary.
  • Rate Limiting: Be mindful of rate limits imposed by the domain availability API. The script includes a 1-second delay between checks, but you might need to adjust this based on the API's documentation.
  • Responsible Usage: It's recommended to use this script for legitimate domain registration purposes and to respect copyrights or trademarks held by others.

Further Enhancements:

  • Consider adding support for different top-level domains (TLDs) beyond .com.
  • Explore integrating more comprehensive domain availability checks from different sources.
  • Implement more sophisticated filtering techniques based on word patterns or dictionary lookups.
