Make sure the website and the repo are saying the same things.

Would it be possible to sunset this repo and only use the website?

Yes, but...

updating the website is not very easy to do for anyone outside of NumFOCUS staff — in other words, it's much easier to make edits collectively using the repo. Worth a discussion, though.

I would be -1 on using the website instead of this repo as there is valuable old information in this repo from previous years which students can go through easily.

I did not say delete the content here. However, having to update just one website would be nice. subdomain forwarding to a GitHub repo would also be good. The coala project has a nice static website we can fill from a Github project. The project overview could even be just an iFrame. This project information is the most volatile during GSoC anyway, all the other texts are very static. I can wait here for an update up to a week.

I also have a test from last year tailored to our needs.

The website is definitely a great idea, but should we make a new website for each year? I don't want to overwrite project ideas from 2020 with 2021 for example.
Like if I want to have a look at the ideas page of pymc3 from 2017, I could go to https://github.com/numfocus/gsoc/blob/master/2017/ideas-list.md and have a look.

Is it possible to make the information stay (and we update only one place) in this repo, and we automatically fetch that information to the website?

Closing this for now as we are still using this repo to work on this.

@henrykironde let me know if you think further pursue this?
