Could not log in [E08]

Closed this issue ยท 10 comments

Hello nwestfal,

thank you very much for forking this project.

I've tried to log in, but everytime the E08 apperas.
Maybe there is an error with the urls?

http://www.turbine.com/SE/GLS/GetDatacenters and others seem to be broken...
Somewhere I've read, the url is gls.lotro.com ?

Could you please check this and help me to play again ;)

Thanks.

I just tried and it is still working fine for me. If you go to Help ->
About is the version of pylotro 0.2.2?

It may be that your particular server is down. Try connecting to a
different server to verify.

Hello nwestfal,

thank you very much for replying ๐Ÿ‘
Yes, it is the version 0.2.2.
No server works :(

I tried to compile it for Windows with python 2.7, pyinstaller, PyWin32 and PyQt4 using the pylotro.spec

Command: "python pyinstaller.py C:\pyinstaller\PyLotRO\pylotro.spec"

Everthing seems fine until I try to connect - than the E08 appears. Is there a new plugin used, which I have to insert into the folder?

Here are the (not working) compiled clients: http://oyox.de/619-lotro-auf-linux-hier-opensuse/ would be absolute phantastic, if we could get it working.

Greetings
Kasad

I have not tried to compile a Windows version. I'm not sure if anyone has
succeeded in that since version 0.1.15, which I myself was using until Nov.
20th when Turbine made the first set of changes to the launcher.config.

I downloaded your compiled version and tried it, and I do get the same
error as you, so something seems to be getting switched up in the
compilation. I'll take a look at the code and see what I can make out.

Thank you very much - would be realy awesome, if you find something usefull in the code.

The previous version from lynx3d worked compiled until oktober / november but now it just shows a blank log after clicking Login - this version is also available at oyox.de.

Maybe I've found an problem: do you hardlink to a 32bit structure? I am using a 64bit machine...
Found this difference in PyLotROUtils.py:
if node.getAttribute("key") == "GameClient.WIN32.Filename":
if node.getAttribute("key") == "GameClient.Filename":
(there are some other Win32 bit references)... I'm not able to code python myself, so I dont know the reason you renamend this ;) Causes this the error? Could it be "fixed"?

No, that's one of the changes that Turbine made to the launcher.config.
They no longer define "GameClient.Filename" and replaced it with
"GameClient.WIN32.Filename". Pylotro is parsing the launcher.config
looking for that string. For a better understanding, here are the
relevant lines from the launcher.config:

<!-- Game client launching -->
<add key="GameClient.WIN32.Filename" value="turbineclientlauncher.exe"/>
<add key="GameClient.WIN32.ArgTemplate" value="/r {CRASHRECEIVER} /t

{UPLOADTHROTTLE} // -a {SUBSCRIPTION} -h {LOGIN} --glsticketdirect {GLS}
--chatserver {CHAT} --rodat on --language {LANG} --bugurl {BUGURL}
--gametype LOTRO --authserverurl {AUTHSERVERURL} --glsticketlifetime
{GLSTICKETLIFETIME} --supporturl {SUPPORTURL} --supportserviceurl
{SUPPORTSERVICEURL}"/>

Back to the issue at hand, from looking at the code, it looks like that
error message is raised if it can't connect to the authentication server.
I just installed Python in a Windows VM and was able to run pylotro
uncompiled just fine. (of course the game crashed in the VM, but I
expected that). I'm having trouble using pyinstaller though to create a
windows version.

Is there some reason you don't want to use the native Linux version? It
seems to work well.

Good morning,

Thank you for testing. I'm using the compiled version, because I installed it with PlayOnLinux - with this tool it is more easy to handle all the games within one program ;) But you're right, if nothing works, I will switch to the noncompiled linux version.

I start to think, the compiling itself is causing the error, maybe I've installed the wrong QT version or something else, so a module for the connection is missing... I'll try the exact installation as before (for the working 2.0 pylotro version) and tell you, if it works :)

Hello nwestfal,
it was my fault... after using a different computer for the compiling it works like a charm. Thank you very much for supporting me.
Greetings and happy gaming ;)
Kasad

Awesome! Are you going to post the compiled version online somewhere?
