In custom_app/models.py

from simple_activity.models import Action as BaseAction

class Action(BaseAction):
   # your custom fields, managers, etc here

In settings.py

SIMPLE_ACTIVITY = {
    'ACTION_MODEL': 'my_app.MyActionModel'
