**Cistern-Log4j** Cistern-Log4j is a Log4j appender extension that will append Log4j log messages to a cistern server (http://parabuzzle.github.com/cistern). **How to Use:** Build the jar using maven. $ mvn install This will install the jar in your local maven repo for use in your applications. Next you add cistern-log4j.jar to your container (tomcat, jboss, etc) or your application's dependencies. Just put it where you put the log4j jars. In your Log4j config file add an appender with the cistern class and required params: param expaination: * = required *serverhost - the hostname of your cistern server *serverport - the port your collector is listening on *agent_id - the agent_id you want logs to be logged under (you get this from the server after creating an agent) *logtype_id - the logtype_id you want logs to be logged under (you get this from the server after creating a logtype) *authkey - the key that corresponds to your agent_id. This is for data integrity.
