We are interested in this field/domain because we want to compare the data of unemployment rates through the various ears in the U.S., both on a national level and state level.

Source 1: US Unemployment Rate by County 1990-2016
  • Where did you download the data (e.g., a web URL)? From the following web URL: Kaggle Unemployment Dataset
  • How was the data collected or generated? Make sure to explain who collected the data (not necessarily the same people that host the data), and who or what the data is about? The data was collected by scraping the US Department of Labor Statistics. The ones who originally collected the data were the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the original data is far more diverse, this dataset is the result of scraping relevant unemployment data by county from the US Labor Statistics dataset.
  • How many observations (rows) are in your data? 886000 rows.
  • How many features (columns) are in the data? 5 columns.
  • What questions (from above) can be answered using the data in this dataset? Has the unemployment rate increased or decreased more over time?

Source 2: Unemployment rates for people 25 years and older by educational attainment and sex
  • Where did you download the data (e.g., a web URL)? From the following web URL: DOL Unemployment Dataset
  • How was the data collected or generated? Make sure to explain who collected the data (not necessarily the same people that host the data), and who or what the data is about? The data was collected by the US Department of Labor Women's Bureau. They originally obtained such data through government census and legal documentation and records. The data is about Women's' unemployment.
  • How many observations (rows) are in your data? 6
  • How many features (columns) are in the data? 3
  • What questions (from above) can be answered using the data in this dataset? How is education related to unemployment?

Source 3: Unemployment rate by sex, race and Hispanic ethnicity
  • Where did you download the data (e.g., a web URL)? From the following web URL: DOL Unemployment Dataset 2
  • How was the data collected or generated? Make sure to explain who collected the data (not necessarily the same people that host the data), and who or what the data is about? Same website source but different CSV as previous. The data was collected by the US Department of Labor Women's Bureau. They originally obtained such data through government census and legal documentation and records. The data is about Women's' unemployment.
  • How many observations (rows) are in your data? 5
  • How many features (columns) are in the data? 3
  • What questions (from above) can be answered using the data in this dataset? What group of people is the most unemployed?
