mruby binding for Android

Primary LanguageC++

jamruby

jamruby is Java to mruby bridge.

Ready to build

  1. Get source code from github.
  2. Edit your 'mruby/build_config.rb' for Android NDK cross-build.
  3. Build 'mruby' for your target ABI (armeabi, armeabi-v7a, x86, mips)
  4. Build 'jamruby' as a shared library via Android NDK.

$ git clone https://github.com/mruby/mruby.git
$ git clone https://github.com/jamruby/jamruby.git
$ cd mruby
$ vi build_config.rb
$ ANDROID_NDK_HOME="/path/to/your/NDK" make
$ cd ../

'mruby' is needed for build 'jamruby'.
And it has to place on same directory.
if your environment is not, you have to modify your makefile 'jamruby/jni/Android.mk'.

Append following code into 'mruby/build_config.rb'.

build_config.rb:

MRuby::CrossBuild.new('android-armeabi') do |conf|
  ENV['ANDROID_TARGET_ARCH'] = 'arm'
  ENV['ANDROID_TARGET_ARCH_ABI'] = 'armeabi'

  toolchain :androideabi

  # if you want to use methods 'p', 'puts', enable one of mrbgem 'mruby-print'.
  conf.gem 'mrbgems/mruby-print'

end
MRuby::CrossBuild.new('android-armeabi-v7a') do |conf|
  ENV['ANDROID_TARGET_ARCH_ABI'] = 'armeabi-v7a'

  toolchain :androideabi

  # if you want to use methods 'p', 'puts', enable one of mrbgem 'mruby-print'.
  conf.gem 'mrbgems/mruby-print'

end
MRuby::CrossBuild.new('android-x86') do |conf|
  ENV['ANDROID_TARGET_ARCH'] = 'x86'

  toolchain :androideabi

  # if you want to use methods 'p', 'puts', enable one of mrbgem 'mruby-print'.
  conf.gem 'mrbgems/mruby-print'

end

How to build the JNI library

Run command 'ndk-build'.

$ cd jamruby/jni
$ ndk-build

Open project via Eclipse

  1. import project; select 'Existing Projects into Workspace' on the import wizard.
  2. select root directory (cloned directory 'jamruby').
  3. build project.
  4. 'jamruby' is built as Android library project.
