Widgets that exceed the screen size force the entire photo frame to resize

Less of a problem with PhotoPlayer (which is just an image), but can occur for the Dashboard which has an arbitrary text block.
Consider adding scroll bars, or prevent top-level widgets from exceeding the frame size.
