An adaptation of the original NeRF-pytorch repo, modified to support N-channel data from OpenEXR files.
These modifications have been made in order to train on Mitsuba 0.6 renders, but you can probably get it to work on other renders with little effort.
- Only suppots the HALF OpenEXR channel encoding
- The initial iterations of training are very vulnerable to unfavorable convergences.
- All output nodes may constantly produce 0
- All output nodes may hover around 0.5. If your output seems monochrome in an EXR viewer(I use
openexr-viewer
), this may be it.
--num_iters
- number of training iterations. Default 200000--exr_chskip
- number of channels to ignore(starting from the wider end of the spectrum)- This "hack" works around mitsuba giving you a bunch of completely empty channels beyond the visible spectrum for whatever reason. These channels can often cause NeRF to immediately converge to all zeroes as output.
exr - based off blender, meaning it uses the same pose file format.
- Batching
- Video rendering
If the input data is 3-channel, NeRF should behave correctly(including rendering videos). However, if the dataset has another channel count than 3, the output file format will be exr, and video rendering will be disabled.
NeRF (Neural Radiance Fields) is a method that achieves state-of-the-art results for synthesizing novel views of complex scenes. Here are some videos generated by this repository (pre-trained models are provided below):
This project is a faithful PyTorch implementation of NeRF that reproduces the results while running 1.3 times faster. The code is based on authors' Tensorflow implementation here, and has been tested to match it numerically.

The LLFF data loader requires ImageMagick.
You will also need the LLFF code (and COLMAP) set up to compute poses if you want to run on your own real data.

A neural radiance field is a simple fully connected network (weights are ~5MB) trained to reproduce input views of a single scene using a rendering loss. The network directly maps from spatial location and viewing direction (5D input) to color and opacity (4D output), acting as the "volume" so we can use volume rendering to differentiably render new views
