This is the former Wordpress theme for my blog. It's not used anymore, since I moved to Hugo and created a new theme. See Edinburgh Hugo Theme.
Install LiveReload Browser Plugin e.g. Chrome Extension. Don't forget to enable it.
Then
# clone git repo
$ npm install
$ gulp # listen for changes, compile sass files and reload browser
Get a local Wordpress up and running. Symlink the project folder theme
into your Wordpress installation
$ ln -s <project root>/edinburgh <wordpress root>/wp-content/themes/edinburgh
Enable the theme in the Wordpress backend.
- Run
$ gulp dist
. This creates both a folder containing the theme (dist/edinburgh
) and a zip file with the same content (dist/edinburgh.zip
) - Upload the zip file or directly the folder
<project root>/dist/edinburgh
to the theme folder of your Wordpress installation<wordpress root>/wp-content/themes/
.
$ ncftpput -R -v -u "username" yourdomain.de /<wordpress path>/wp-content/themes <project path>/dist/edinburgh
- Next, go to the Wordpress backend
- Appearance > Themes. Activate the Edinburgh theme
- Recommended Widgets Configuration (Appearance > Customize):
- "Before Comments Widget Areas": add Meks Smart Author here (no title, 100 avatar size, no "all posts" link)
- "After Comments Widget Areas": add Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Categories here.

, please remove all custom styles (or deinstall plugin completely) - JetPack Plugin: Check if JetPack is working correctly. You may need to disconnected and reconnect to Wordpress.com.
- Optional: define your Google Analytics Property ID (UA-XXXXXXXX-X). Therefore, change
