Simple Content

This data is a collection of simulations, scripts, along with configurations to help them run (and a VSCode workspace to help edit the configs), meant to be used with Simple. Included is some tutorial data which provides a jumping-off point, but Melee data for the in-development The Ur-Quan Masters 2, which is fairly complex, is included at game/sim/ships/melee.sim. On its own, the content is mostly files stored in JSON to be read/written by Simple and will not be meaningfully legible or mergeable on its own.

How do I use the content?

Just place the contents of the content directory inside a directory alongside your Simple installation, then open any of the .sim files. If you're new to Simple, see the quick start guide.

What is the UQM2.code-workspace for?

We have switched over from our old, custom CSV format for view data files to a JSON-enhanced specification. Using VSCode and using this workspace will provide access and intellisense hints for the expected formatting, guiding you through some of the text editing and helping to catch errors.

What am I allowed to do with this?

The content is licensed under the MIT license, permitting you to use and redistribute it as you see fit. Beyond the legalese, we hope you have fun remixing this content, forking your own set of data, sharing it, playing it with other people, or even showing us the cool things you’ve done with it!
