A JetBrains IDE plugin supporting the EditorConfig standard.
Supported JetBrains IDEs: IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, RubyMine, and more.
It is available in the
JetBrains Plugin Repository, which
can be accessed from within JetBrains IDEs by going to
Settings > Plugins > Browse repositories...
- Download plugin release from the Releases page.
- Open settings/preferences
- Select "Plugins"
- Click "Install from disk..."
- Select the .zip (the binary release, not the source, and do not unzip)
- Follow prompt to restart the IDE
Simply put your .editorconfig file(s) in place according to the instructions on the EditorConfig site, and the plugin will enforce them. EditorConfig settings will silently override the normal settings configured in the IDE for all files controlled by EditorConfig. That is, if your IDE's settings say to use 4-space indents in Java files, but your EditorConfig settings enforce 2-space indents in all the files under the "src" directory, then hitting tab will insert 2 spaces on Java files in "src", but 4 spaces in all other Java files in the project.
The EditorConfig JetBrains plugin supports the following EditorConfig properties:
- indent_style
- indent_size
- tab_width
- charset
- root (only used by EditorConfig core)
Support for trim_trailing_whitespace and insert_final_newline will be re-added soon once better support for customizing these settings is added in IntelliJ itself (see [this pull request] (JetBrains/intellij-community#139)), and end_of_line is not supported due to difficulty of implementation in IntelliJ and because IntelliJ handles newlines quite intelligently already.
