Connection to the git server impossible

Opened this issue · 12 comments

On my computer I can connect to the server, with Preferences → remote repository. It works very well.
But on a fresh install I can't!! I install all the Linux dependencies (only libgtkhtml3 or 4) because it is no more in the repositories of Ubuntu 18.04.
When I try to connect on the fresh install I got an error with git:
git commit fails to commit data to the repository
Did I forgot something?

Preferences → remote repository
This is a collaboration tools for multiples users, on my system when i opened this, I could enter a git address to access a online git repo. But on the fresh computer, I don't have this possibility again.

The gui I'm using is in BB-desktopt Preferences → Remote Repository. On my system i can connect to a remote git I get this two windows (I need only to complete the second):
windows1

windows2

But on the fresh install I don't have the second. The connexion stop to the first with this error:
git commit fails to commit data to the repository

Ok thank you very much for help!
I use the server on linux. This problem I get it on Ubuntu 18.04.
I have not a good internet connexion, then I will answer question not very quickly.

Is it possible the problem is because I used a ntfs partition for the repo?

I don't think so.

Because I read in the help of Bibledit to not create a repo on a windows partition....
And something with bibledit-git?

I'm not the one who wrote that part of the help. May be because filenames were limited to 8+3 characters. NTFS is probably OK.

@LAfricain Can you provide me the url you used to try and clone? Im trying to repeat the process.

I just create a locale git on my computer. I followed the help page: file:///usr/share/bibledit-desktop/site/collaboration.html in the new help.
