This is a JRuby based set of objects to work with OpenVista, an electronic health record system based on VA VistA. It uses OVID to access data in VistA and provides Ruby objects for working with patients, medications, vital signs, etc.
This project contains a very small framework called ActiveFileMan that provides access to files in VistA FileMan in a similar fashion to ActiveRecord providing access to tables in an RDBMS.
rake gem
Change the config/vista.yml file to point to your VistA installation
patient = Patient.find_by_ien('1')
patient.name # => "PATIENT NAME"
