RevolutionUC Hackathon project that uses the Twilio API and the Twitter API to send SMS messages to users with live Ukraine updates.

Inspiration

We found a tweet from a Ukrainian thanking a page on Twitter for their news updates during this crisis (https://twitter.com/MVG_Charting/status/1497513162391887877). We wanted to expand on that and create a service from which Ukrainians could receive SMS news updates from similar sources.

How it Works

A user can sign up on the website with their phone number and receive SMS messages of live news alerts. These SMS alerts are sent right when an account makes a tweet.

How we Built it

We used node.js for our server and HTML/CSS for our frontend. We used the Twilio API to send the alerts and the Twitter API to get the live tweets.
