Thank you for the logs. Please download the latest version and see if that helps. If that doesn't fix it, please upload the new log that it generates.

I have a similar issue on a Mac Mini M2 with latest OS and latest Libation download.
Click on Application, icon bounces twice in dock as usual, but noting launches.
I am not sure hwo to find the log file as I cannot get into the application at all.
This was working flawlessly about a month ago, a couple of recent Audible purchases and I thought I would update my Libation folder with them, but cannot access the app now.

Same, had libation installled a few weeks ago on mac os m4, and today i tried reopening it and reinstalling falling the mac steps, using terminal, it just keeps openign and immediatley closing.

@Merren0015 , @knotty68 , @joeybonzo2 : if you haven't already, please see this page to see if it helps:

@Mbucari I'm beginning to think we have a mac-specific issue: #1357 , #1270

yes, i personally tried all the steps, and the last one, i think i did correctly, but wasn't able to :/

Yes, I am sad. The old version was working great for months. It wouldn't let me download the new version from the application. So I downloaded it separately. The new version will open but nothing shows up. It just continues to say 'Scanning'.

@Mixonitup I've only ever seen that symptom when the database file isn't closed gracefully.
Try performing these steps and see if it fixes the issue.

@Mbucari I only see one file titled LibationContext.db. Should I delete that one and see what happens?

@Mixonitup I couldn't hurt at this point. That's the database file that stores all your book data and backup status. Seeing as you can't access any of it, just try to leading it and see if that fixes it for you.

Just here to say I'm having the same issue on my Macbook. I was previously a Windows user - switched to Mac - tried to download the Mac versions (I tried both) - and it wouldn't work.

Hi, I'm just piling on to say I'm having this issue too, it seems. I haven't tried it on Linux yet, but on Win 11, both the "classic" and "chardonnay" versions of 12.5.3, won't start. I've never used it before, and have no data imported. I just download the package, and can't get it to run.

Thank you for your efforts with this project!

@CyberMinion is this a recent development? Did previous releases work for you? Can you downgrade to a previous version that works?

Hi, I have never used the program before, I just came to try it out based on a friend's recommendation. I tried 12.5.3, 12.5.2, 12.4.11, 12.4.7, and 11.5.4. Same result from all of them. Could my system be missing a dependency?

OS:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
OS build 22631.5039

Came back to say that this program works fine with my iMac. It wasn't working on my Macbook, so I tried it out on the iMac. I've had similar issues with some things working on one and not the other. For example, I can burn cds on my Macbook but not my iMac using iTunes.

On my Mac, I went to LibationCli and double clicked, (it auto-opened Terminal window), then double clicking Libation.app as usual and the program window opens and seems to work as before. Sorry, but still not sure where/how to find you a log file.

@arivias1 That's very interesting. Can you provide some details on both of your systems? OS versions and CPU (weather Intel or Apple silicon)?

@knotty68 that is very interesting. Your log files can be found in ~/Library/Application Support/Libation.

Can you tell me how you were getting past gatekeeper? Were you using the xattr method, or the spctl method?

I don't have the knowledge to understand what either xattr or spctl methods are. Sorry.
I 'gave permission' to MacOS to open this app previously via Privacy & Security settings.
Under Library/Application Support there is no Libation folder..

From a reddit user:

Not sure if this helps but this is what i get when I launch the exec file through content package

"Last login: Tue Sep 2 15:29:10 on console Username@MacBook-Pro-3 ~ % /Applications/Libation.app/Contents/MacOS/Libation ; exit; /bin/sh: -c: line 0: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `'' /bin/sh: -c: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file

Just in case this matters, I tried running the GUI application on another Win11 23H2 system, and it worked flawlessly. It still doesn't work on the PC I originally tried. I don't know what that means. On the PC where it works, the OS build is 22631.5624.

I downloaded the newest update (12.5.4 Chardonnay) today, and the system crashes within a few seconds of populating. Attached are my log files.

I tried going through the prior application (12.5.3 Classic) and same problem. It crashed. My Log files are attached below.

Is there a more recent non-zip log file? This looks like it's from July (2025-07)

I am unable to process the books from my account. I reloaded the vers. 12.5.4 and the books are not populating... just says scanning

Please attach the latest log file. It should be named something like Log202510.log 2025 is the year and month (10 == October).

Nothing new since 23Jul25 in the logs. I tried to delete my account and sign in again, but now the system is scanning two accounts and won't allow to get rid of the one of the two.

Something seriously weird is going on here. Close Libation and delete (or move, backup, etc) any files starting with _Log , starting with Log , and the AccountsSettings.json file. When you restart Libation, all your books will still be there but no logs or accounts. You should now be able to re-add accounts and see new logs. If not, we may be looking at a file permissions issue.

Attached are my settings.... Program loads now, but none of the books are visible. Re-entered my account info upon prompt. When going through the logs I did notice something from yesterday. I am posting.

Thank you for your assistance. I truly appreciate it.

Can you take a screenshot of your folder which has your log files in it?

Sorry, I meant the folder so I could see Windows last updated date+times for these files. But the fact that it was able to write to that file today means that we are successfully writing to that folder, which was my real point. That's good.

The latest log file you posted has a USA locale. Does this mean that it's working for you for US?

yes. Thank you.

Are the setting correct? It is not importing files.

Still not working, just scans and no books are visible. Am I not suppose to have it in the us?

@Mbucari if you have a moment, can you look at this thread? I feel like I must be missing something.

So there was a suggestion that was posted on 17Aug25. I did it and the program loaded and started to process the books, but then crashed, tried reloading multiple times. Posted is my Log files.

Well, I was able to load briefly and now I have the two prompts back that deleted to make it populate.

@Merren0015 I think we may be circling a solution here. There's something in your database file that's causing Libation to crash. If you don't mind, could you please email your "LibationContext.db" file to me at mbucari1@gmail.com? That file contains details about all Books you have added to your Audible account, and you account email addresses, but no passwords or anything else sensitive.

@Merren0015 I made a change which I hope will fix your issue. Can you please download and test Libation from this link?

Hopefully fixed in version 12.5.6
