Launchy McLaunchface, “Launchy,” is a currently under development by the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory. The launch vehicle is being designed for the FAR | Mars Society Launch Competition in the summer of 2018. Launchy uses the Ariel-1 rocket engine; a LOX/LNG engine achieving 2000 lbf thrust.

Propulsion

Launchy uses the "Remove Before Flight" rocket engine; a LOX/LNG engine achieving 1000 lbf thrust. The propulsion system is pressure fed with propellant tanks at 500 psi and a high pressure helium tank for back pressurant.
