Including an example of how to use your role (for instance, with variables passed in as parameters) is always nice for users too:
- hosts: servers
roles:
- { role: username.rolename, x: 42 }
Create VMs to test (will download and start all vms, take a coffee :)
cd test
vagrant up
Running the role (run two times to see idempotency)
ansible-playbook -i hosts playbook.yml -u vagrant
Verify if is everything ok
testinfra test_default.py -v --connection=ssh --ssh-config=ssh_config --hosts=trusty,wily,xenial,centos6,centos7
