Tool to create Atari disk images (ATR files).
AtrCompiler can unpack contents of a ATR disk to a folder as separate files and create a dir file, which describes the contents of the disk, its size etc. You can then modify the files and pack them to a new ATR disk.
AtrCompiler list atr_file
AtrCompiler pack atr_file [dir_file]
AtrCompiler unpack atr_file [dir_file]
Default name of dir_file is DIR.TXT.
When unpacking the disk, filesystem will be autodetected. If the filesystem is not recognized, DOS 2.5 will be used. Boot sectors are automatically saved into BOOT.BIN file.
Directory file describes format and contents of the created disk. It is composed on commands. Every command is on separate line.
DISK <sector size> <number of sectors>
Specifies the size of the disk.
BOOT filename
The disk will be bootable. The file specified must contain 3 sectors that will be used for booting.
FORMAT filesystem [2.5]
Format the disk for use with specified filesystem. Possible values are:
- 2.0
- 2.5
- II+
- mydos
- sparta
- xdos
Depending on file system, there may be additional parameters (BUFFERS, RAMDISK etc.) Parameter is followed by hexadecimal number starting with $.
For example.
BUFFERS $02
[BIN|DOS|] filename [atarifilename]
File commands may start with optional format specifier (may be ommited, in which case it is BIN). Filename may be followed by another filename, which specifies how should be the file named on the Atari disk.
--- atarifilename
Special --- format means, the file is empty (there is no file) and only empty directory entry should be created.
If necessary, we can specify filename, as it should appear on atari. We can \ as escape characters with following meaning:
\i turn character inversion on/off
\xhh ATASCII character in hex
\<spc> space
\\ backslash
To specify new subdirectory, use slash before the filename. If the following file should be placed in this directory, start the line with |.
For example:
DOS DOS.SYS
DUP.SYS
/ BOOKS
| OXYGEN.OBJ
| AHA.OBJ
/ MUSIC
| EYES.OBJ
| BLUES.OBJ
MyDos subdirectories are supported.
BUFFERS num
Number of 128 bytes buffers (and open files). MemLo depends on it!
RAMDISK $yx
- $8x -> 128KB , 1009 sectors in Medium Density
- $2x -> 64KB (130XE), 499 sectors in Single Density
- $4x -> 16KB (normal XL/XE) memory under ROM-OS
x ->
- If it's 1, RAMdisk will be formated after DOS will load.
- If it's a 0 RAMdisk will not be formated
- and if it's 8, the RAMdisk will be write protected
XDOS is successor of DOS II+. It has simmilar disk structure.
BUFFERS num
Number of 128 bytes buffers (and open files). MemLo depends on it!
RAMDISK $yx
Same as RAMDISK in DOS II+.
COLOR num
Background color used in DUP. If this value is 0, default color is used.
Currently only read only support.
NAME text
Up to 8-character long volume name.
