BytesFuzzer: a simple fuzzing tool to verify correctness

Primary LanguageRuby

BytesFuzzer: a fuzzing tool to verify correctness.

Description

BytesFuzzer checks that a bijective encoder (like a compression algorithm) satisfies the following requirement:

input == decode(encode(input))

It does this by constructing inputs in two ways:

  1. Testing combinations of edge cases to find faulty logic, and
  2. Hammering the program with random-looking input.
