Installation

To install the Julia on your machine follow the instructions given on Julia Download page.

Or

  1. Install the latest Julia version by running this in your terminal:

    curl -fsSL https://install.julialang.org | sh
  2. Test the installtion by typing the julia in terminal, don't forget to reactivate the terminal. installation_test suggestion: To exit Julia, use Ctrl-D, or type exit() and press enter.

    • To check the Julia version, call versioninfo() method in the julia terminal.
      julia> versioninfo()
          Julia Version 1.10.3
          Commit 0b4590a5507 (2024-04-30 10:59 UTC)
          Build Info:
            Official https://julialang.org/ release
          Platform Info:
            OS: macOS (arm64-apple-darwin22.4.0)
            CPU: 10 × Apple M2 Pro
            WORD_SIZE: 64
            LIBM: libopenlibm
            LLVM: libLLVM-15.0.7 (ORCJIT, apple-m1)

  3. JupyterNotbook (Optional), run the following command to Julia kernel as shown above.

    using Pkg; Pkg.add("IJulia")
  4. To install any package in Julia using the package manager Pkg of Julia. i.e to install the Plots package run the following in the Julia terminal

    julia> using Pkg
    julia> Pkg.add("<package name>")
    julia> Pkg.add("Plots") # Example
