A research grade optical tweezer uses a focused laser beam to create an optical trap of small particles. The system incorporates a near IR diode laser with PID control thermoelectric cooler with a quadrant photodiode and video sensors. The project for the (Engineering) team member will involve installation of new components, system calibration, adoption of a microfluidiç cell, capture of trapped particle video, analysis of particle behaviour. The project for the second team member (Programmer) involves video / image analysis, algorithm and software development to estimate particle height (and possibly 3D motion) from video.
