Google Cloud for Developers is a comprehensive introduction for those who are new to Google Cloud, that will have you up-to-speed and writing code in no time to develop both cloud-native applications and also hybrid and multi-cloud architectures. You will learn how to write new code or bring your existing one to Google Cloud, how to run it in the most resource and cost efficient ways, and how to make the most of the cloud by leveraging available APIs and Services to bring your solutions to the next level.

Google Cloud is an extremely powerful and versatile platform for running your code. By understanding how to write and deploy your code in Google Cloud, you will be able to make the best choices to enjoy all the benefits of the cloud while keeping your costs under control.

This book is made by developers for developers. It’s not a description of Google Cloud services but a guide on how to make the most out of it if you want your code to run there. By the end of the book you will understand the different options for running code on Google Cloud and will be able to make the best choice for each of your use cases.

Instructions and Navigation

All of the code is organized into folders. For example, Chapter02.

Important:

  • You will need a Linux console to run the exercises, ideally Cloud Shell can be an amazing option.
  • Install the Google Cloud CLI if it's not yet available in your shell.
  • Follow the instructions in each chapter to run each of the examples provided.
